North to South: Best Places for an Anytime Retreat

Some people reserve their vacations to only certain times of the year. But these two destinations are perfect no matter when you visit.

In the North: Brattleboro, Vermont

Vermont is known for their maple syrup and maple flavored foods. If you enjoy a brewski and a view, Whetstone Brewery Co. borders the river and offers an astounding view. Whetstone’s variety of beer and vegetarian-friendly menu items promises an outing sure to please even the most demanding of diners. The brewery is located right on the Vermont-New Hampshire border, and from your riverside dining experience you can see a bridge connecting the two states.

In the South: The Florida Keys

In fact, this is as far south as you can go in the United States. The Florida Keys is the perfect vacation spot for all. Families, couples, nature-lovers, and more can enjoy a variety of activities. If you’re into history, check out Fort Zachary Taylor on Key West. Plus, the park’s beach is one of the world’s most beautiful.

This chain of islands is famous for its signature Key Lime Pie and the beautiful pastel homes on stilts peppering the shoreline. The Atlantic’s waters are a beautiful turquoise here and reminiscent of the beaches of the Bahamas.

On Isla Morada, check out Robbie’s — it’s a popular spot where you can feed the large tarpon fish and shop for cute sea-themed trinkets. You can also rent paddle boards and kayaks for a fun day out on the water.

If you’re looking for nightlife, Mallory Square in Key West is the place to find it. After you watch the sun dip beneath the horizon at Fort Zachary Taylor (and participate in the round of applause afterward!), head to Mallory Square. This spot comes to life when the sun goes down. Listen to live music as you sip a cocktail. Watch street performers and relax, or become one yourself as you wind through the square in a conga line.
